Travel season is around the corner and many of us are already planning their vacations. If you want to save on your airfares, make sure you know all the ways how to get the best price. Here are some helpful tips on how to do that:
- Check the aggregators. There is a whole new category of websites that has emerged in the last couple of years that help users find good airfares. Aggregators use search engines and airline websites to find all available airfares and present them to the user in a comprehensive and easy-to-compare manner. Besides, some airlines do not offer airfares through search engines so it’s only aggregators that can help you find and compare all the deals on a single page. There are also useful tools featured on such sites to make the process even easier. One of my favorite aggregators is Bookingwiz.
- Be flexible while traveling. If you aren’t very strict with your departure/arrival dates, being flexible when choosing them can help you save quite well. You can use the above mentioned aggregators to see what prices are available during a certain time period. You will see for yourself what difference it makes flying Wednesday instead of Friday.
- Be flexible with the arrival point. When flying to or from big metropolitan areas with more than one airport within reach, you should check out the difference in airfares according to the airport of your arrival – sometimes it’s considerable.
- The earlier you book your flight in advance, the lower is the price. Pretty self-explanatory, right?
- Round-trip prices are always lower. Even if you’re flying one way, be sure to check the round-trip fare for your flight. They are always lower than the one-ways.
- Get notified if airfares drop and refund the difference. Take time to follow the trends in airfares before buying tickets. Airfares constantly fluctuate and the same company can lower or increase the prices in a few days after you’ve booked your flight. In case the price was dropped you can opt for a refund to get the difference between the price you’ve paid and the actual airfare.
